The 2014/30/UE Directive establishes the essential electromagnetic compatibility requirements for electrical and electronic equipment.
In particular, the EMC Directive defines the parameters for electromagnetic emissions of equipment, in order to ensure the proper functioning even in presence of electromagnetic interferences and, at the same time, to guarantee they do not disturb the proper functioning of other devices. Directive 2014/30/EU has been implemented in order to remedy any disturbances generated by interactions between devices (which may cause abnormal operation or failure), and to ensure the free movement of products, equipment and machinery.
To market an electrical appliance within the member states of the European Union, the product must comply with the electromagnetic compatibility directive and all other relevant standards and directives. In order to declare conformity, the manufacturer is required to mark the product with the CE marking.
What are the activities to be performed to apply the CE marking to a product?
The manufacturer is required to prepare a declaration of conformity that takes into account the EMC directive and all other applicable directives, as well as to draw up the technical file, containing all the documentation necessary to demonstrate the conformity of the product (including risk analysis, test reports, and so on).
The manufacturer/importer/distributor may decide, voluntarily, to submit the documentation to a Notified Body, which certifies its compliance with the requirements of the reference directives.
Ente Certificazione Macchine, Notified Body for Directive 2014/30/EU, is authorized to carry out all conformity assessment activities from an EMC perspective, in order to verify with certainty if the product and the technical documentation comply with the requirements of the directive.
Testing Activity
ECM, with its own Testing Laboratory operating according to ISO 17025 standard, is also able to offer a complete and professional testing service, with the issue of relative test reports.
In our latest generation semi- anechoic chamber you can find the most advanced equipment to test products, devices and machinery, according to the major international standards for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility. Our testing services also include efficient debugging activities.
What are the benefits?
- Higher accuracy of results, thanks to a minimal measurement deviation,
- Reduced time for the execution of the tests and consequently shorter waiting times,
- Possibility for the customer to follow the testing activities live (and consequently know the results), even remotely, thanks to an innovative and exclusive software.
